CopperTop Gardens was painted in 2007 by artist "Thelma Winters" The painting titled "CopperTop Gardens II" won first place at the Lewiston-Youngstown Art Festival. Thelma's website is www.thelmawinter.com
The gardens have had a good rest this winter, we had wonderful results with the buckwheat hull mulch it stayed in place, retained its color. We have experienced no heaveing with the spring bulbs. The stabilizing temperature ability of the mulch was evident. We are looking forward to using it again this year and bringing it to the attention of our fellow gardeners. We have once again topped all the containers with the buckwheat to save on watering.
The new statuary has been added to the gardens. The coffee cup garden will experience some new additions. We invite all area garden clubs to schedule a Tour & Luncheon. The green house is empty. Our work days are getting more relaxed as the majority of planting 2008 is done, look forward to the gardening adventures of 2008. We are currently working on construction of 6ft x 25ft glass enclosure that will provide a garden space for "Victorian Teas". We have been busy excavating the site and removing the current plantings and finding them homes elsewhere in the gardens. Everything is growing and the gardens are lush with greenery. The hanging baskets are hanging in there and continue to add their own element of beauty to the gardens. The enormous hanging basket that we have hung from the maples in the shade garden are just lovely and amazingly the wind has a hard time moving them. The luncheons are going well, the teas are exciting.
