We have made great progress on the new patio. The concrete is laid for the brook we put river rock and glass marbles into the cement. That looks really cool. Today we dug the hole for the water reservoir and the housing for the pump. The hose that will carry the water from the reservoir to the top basin is in place and the culvert that carries the water to the reservoir still needs a small amount of concerete work.
Also got some painting done today on the enormous leaf castings that will be placed on a pedestal and become a bird bath. They must weigh in at about 120 pds. They both took 2 bags of sakrete. They are HEAVY. Unable to move by myself. Painted one to look like lava rock and the other a giant sunflower face.
Trying to keep up with watering the containers. Trimming back some ornamental grasses that have decided this year to take over some of the pathways. Been picking cucumbers, peppers, broccoli, cauliflower and tomatos in the garden. Nothing like fresh veggies straight from the garden to table. The lettuces and greens have been spectacular and plentiful. We picked 34 lbs of blueberries last week. Getting ready for peaches soon and then on to the apple season.
Big event coming in Sept. to the gardens our first ever “Coffee Cupping” we are going to pair up with Coffee Roaster “Joe Bean Coffee” and offer 3 different coffees paired with complimentary desserts for a tasting. Can’t wait to see how this turns out. If interested call 585-948-9508 for further details/pricing.
Everything in the gardens is growing like gangbusters but already we are thinking of fall and the addition of the annual mums. When you garden at the pace/volumne we do it is easy at this time of the year to feel a little burn out but we keeping forging ahead to the excitement of the next season and the glory it brings to the gardens.
Before you know it the snow will be flying and all this will be a memory. But until then Happy Gardening and come pay us a visit. TTFN
