Well we had a very busy spring with both the greenhouse, gardens and a first for the family. One of our daughters got married and this was not only very exciting but a very busy time for all of us. The wedding was gorgeous in shades of lavender, purple & champagne. The floral arrangements which we did ourselves were absolutely beautiful. We received rave reviews on the food that was served and made by us here at CTG’s. Another major change here in the gardens is the removal of the swimming pool. We have now made that area a nice sunken patio with a stone retaining wall. It is amazing what 2 people can do when you work together and have expert leadership from our wonderful new son-in-law. I love saying that, son-in-law. It’s amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well, back to the gardens they are looking wonderful ,lush and busting with color. We are gearing up for our next leaf casting class that will be held Aug. 1st. Boy is that a fun filled day. I enjoy seeing the creativity flow from other people. We have added some new spiral trees to the gardens. Moved several hundred perennials from around the pool area and relandscaped the entire area along the aborviteas near the property line. The many shades of greenĀ are amazing and very calming when sitting on the deck now. We are also going to start the other new addition a babbling brook that will flow along the new patio. I can’t wait to start working on that. Our love of pea gravel will certainly be put to use to line the entire creek bed. We have decided that now that the pool area has been reclaimed as garden space we are officially out of room for additional gardens. Unlike our promise to ourselves last year that we would not have any new projects this year the new project of the patio is coming to its conslusion and we have once again promised no more projects. Yeah right !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We have already decided on some plantings next year based on this years performance. We tried a new mouonding petunia that is outstanding and will definetly be using that next year. The verbena’s in the big white planters have also been a delight and will be invited back next year. We have had outstanding performance from the clematis this year the arbor above the retaining wall has been just beautiful. We also tried with great success placeing the elephant ear plant right in the fish pond, boy it loves its new home and is thriving. The boston ferns that we recycled from the wedding are also doing very well and have been used to make a nice walled effect on the deck. I love the greenery. Why is it that gardeners shy away from just have the greenery as opposed to all sorts of color. I have found the greenery very calming and soothing this year. I guess that is all I have for now. It has been one of our busiest years ever and doing a blog is the last thing I think about on a daily basis. However, I will try and give updates more frequently. TTFN
